Job Summary
Our client seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Civil Engineer to contribute to the design and execution of impactful infrastructure projects in Washington, D.C., US. This hybrid role offers a dynamic work environment, blending remote flexibility with in-office collaboration. You will be instrumental in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of a diverse range of civil engineering projects, including bridges, transportation networks, and public works. Your responsibilities will encompass performing complex structural analyses, developing detailed design calculations, and creating comprehensive engineering drawings and specifications. A deep understanding of seismic design, load calculations, and material science (concrete, steel, timber) is essential. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to deliver technically sound and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a proven ability to lead structural design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and conduct thorough peer reviews of designs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and construction teams. Experience with advanced structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or similar is a must. You should be adept at interpreting building codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ACI, AISC) and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for various civil infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Lead structural design teams and mentor junior engineering staff.
- Conduct peer reviews of structural designs and calculations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage structural engineering tasks to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Communicate technical information effectively to clients and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree: in Civil Engineering with a structural focus; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Software proficiency: in structural analysis and design software (SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro).
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of concrete, steel, and timber design principles.
- Experience: with seismic design and load calculations.
- License: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
