Job Description
Position Overview
This position is based in the Midwest U.S. and will support Canon USA’s dealers, resellers, and third party service providers throughout the Midwest and Northeast. As part of the Digital Solutions Engineers team, you will provide urgent on-site and phone technical support for Canon’s production level digital imaging products. Your expertise in troubleshooting and repairing these products will be key to resolving high-level escalated hardware support issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide urgent, high-visibility third-level technical support via on-site visits or phone, troubleshooting electromechanical and connectivity issues to ensure Canon products meet manufacturing and operational standards.
- Document field activities thoroughly to ensure effective communication among senior management, sales, and engineering teams.
- Conduct field technical seminars and training on Canon products and service best practices for authorized dealers.
- Author technical documentation for Canon’s technical support websites.
- Install and de-install devices and represent Canon with technical expertise at tradeshows and events.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing production level digital imaging products.
- Proven ability to read wiring diagrams and use digital multi-meters for troubleshooting AC/DC voltages.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Availability to travel at least 50%, including short-notice trips and overtime as needed.
- Must be available for regularly scheduled 24×7 phone-based support.
- Understanding of computer platforms and general application software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and comply with safety guidelines while driving for company business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent training (military or trade school); Canon Digital Technician ATSP certification is a plus.
- A+, Net+, or equivalent network/connectivity certification.
- Experience working with a copier manufacturer.
- Residency in the Midwest with proximity to a major airport.
