Building the space between proven and possible, we are seeking a robotic Mission Systems & Operations Flight Controller to join our Robotics & Space Operations team in Houston, Texas. In this role you will support user-centric development of robotic space systems and ground infrastructure for government and industry customers. You will play a pivotal role in human and unmanned spaceflight missions, working on projects such as Lunar Outpost (Gateway), the International Space Station, Commercial LEO, and deep space exploration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a flight operations team by making critical decisions that affect human lives and billion-dollar space assets, and manage risk during both pre-flight and real-time operations.
  • Oversee spaceflight missions by managing robotics assets, ground resources, and payload operations to ensure crew and vehicle safety.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders—including program teams, technical experts, and international partners—to support both human and unmanned missions.
  • Define and enforce user-centric design principles for space and ground robotic systems by collaborating with technical teams and engaging in agile development cycles.
  • Develop and execute Flight Plans, operational procedures, and testing protocols to certify flight readiness and enforce mission rules.
  • Implement contingency plans for robotic systems and dynamic vehicle interactions to resolve malfunctions and restore normal operations.
  • Provide leadership and maintain program visibility through regular technical and management meetings with customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of space flight operations experience controlling mission critical systems in a human spaceflight environment.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in simulations or training with mission-critical hardware/software in space flight, military, or similar safety-critical contexts.
  • Familiarity with the Mobile Servicing System (Canadarm2 and Dextre), International Space Station operations, and associated MSS hardware elements.
  • Strong robotics educational background and/or demonstrable interest in the field.
  • Experience in human spaceflight safety protocols, risk assessment, and hazard identification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering or a technical field, with experience on government space agency programs.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, be available for emergency situations, and travel as required.
  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive Compensation package that recognizes your expertise and dedication.
  • Comprehensive benefits including extended healthcare, flexible drug plans, dental and vision coverage.
