Position Summary: Under general direction, the candidate demonstrates a complete understanding and wide application of engineering technical principles, theories, and concepts. They independently determine and develop approaches to solutions, receive technical guidance on complex problems, and their completed work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives. This role may involve leading small-to-medium non-critical projects or critical projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer/supervisor, providing work direction to others, and representing the organization in resolving difficult technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to complete assignments involving complex features such as conflicting design requirements and challenging coordination.
- Supports the development of technical documentation including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards, as well as assisting with procedure development.
- Works under the general direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor on routine engineering projects and provides ongoing technical support in areas such as operations, maintenance, testing/diagnostics, and regulatory matters.
- May lead small-medium, non-critical projects or coordinate critical project phases under guidance; work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Supports bid/evaluation processes including preparation of bid documents, technical evaluations, and recommendation of selections, while partnering with Supply Chain and Legal teams.
- Frequently exchanges information with inter-organizational teams and outside customers on complex matters.
- May assign tasks and coordinate work of interns, drafters, technicians, and other personnel, providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
- Performs activities such as budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and work order management in support of engineering projects.
Required Qualifications
- Entry Engineer Level (Salary: $68,300 - $86,500 per year)
Education: Required bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
Experience Required: 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies established and documented by the organization.
Qualifications: EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred. - Staff Engineer Level (Salary: $79,800 - $103,666 per year)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited), with electrical engineering preferred.
Experience Required: 2+ years relevant engineering experience with demonstrated proficiency in the specialty area and related disciplines.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level.
Qualifications: EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) strongly preferred. - Senior Engineer Level (Salary: $94,600 - $126,134 per year)
Education: Required bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, with electrical engineering preferred.
Experience Required: 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; alternatively, 7+ years without EIT/FE.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level.
Qualifications: PE (Professional Engineer) registration may be required depending on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in combustion turbine or reciprocating engines, specifically Siemens simple-cycle combustion turbine facilities.
- Design experience valuable for reviewing design work in the aforementioned areas.
- Experience in utility-scale wind, solar, or battery storage projects as an alternative to combustion turbine facilities.
- Experience designing utility-scale energy facilities, including equipment sizing and cabling, is preferred.
- Experience overseeing construction and commissioning of combustion turbines.
