Position Overview

Intuit is building out its causal inference team and is seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist to lead high‐impact projects within the Small Business Solutions Group. In this role, you will drive business performance by leveraging advanced quantitative methods—including experimental design, causal inference, econometrics, and machine learning—to empower leaders and shape strategy across marketing, product, and overall business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end causal inference projects and set the gold standard for applying statistical rigor at Intuit.
  • Advise and mentor economists and data scientists, influencing the Decision Science Team’s roadmap to deliver significant business value.
  • Identify quasi-experimental opportunities, design robust methodologies, and develop forecasting solutions that integrate micro and aggregate data.
  • Collaborate with leadership, product managers, marketing managers, and analysts to turn analytical insights into actionable business strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field (advanced degrees such as Master’s or PhD are highly desirable).
  • At least 5 years of experience applying statistical and econometric methods in decision making.
  • Proven expertise in causal inference techniques (e.g., synthetic controls, regression discontinuity, instrumental variables) with a record of delivering impactful results.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one statistical programming language, such as Python and/or R.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver outcomes that significantly drive business performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art time series techniques and scalable analytics platforms.

    • Bay Area: $204,500 - $276,500
    • Southern California: $197,500 - $267,500
