Job Description

Position Overview

The Biogas Technician will be responsible for the control, operation and maintenance of the biogas generation system (lagoon cover) and the biogas flare system for farms located in Murray, IA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as plant lead to determine priority of daily activity in conjunction with the responsible operations supervisor.
  • Monitor biogas production and flare operations; analyze operations and make adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
  • Maintain process equipment: blowers, flares, instrumentation and controls.
  • Troubleshoot deficient operations and recommend solutions.
  • Perform testing and analysis on lagoon performance.
  • Coordinate and communicate RAE activities with MBM farm management.
  • Safely drive between multiple farms.
  • Follow all process safety requirements including wearing a full face respirator for several hours.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Trade school technical certification/training and/or an Associate’s degree in instrumentation/controls or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of systems, motors, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Ability to interpret data and perform process adjustments to optimize system performance.
  • Proficient troubleshooting of instrumentation and controls.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and planning skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs.
  • Must have a valid driver license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Must comply with Roeslein Alternative Energy’s core values for safe and efficient operation.
  • Ability to meet physical demands: regularly lift 30 lbs, push/pull 50 lbs, climb, and wear a full face respirator for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PLC controls/communication.
  • Familiarity with blowers and refrigeration is beneficial.
  • 1-3 years of recent experience in a supply chain or transportation/logistics-related role.
  • Experience with refrigerated trucking.
  • Experience within a high-volume consumer packaged goods or food company.
  • Experience with ERP/TMS.
  • Moderate Excel skills for data export, formatting, filtering, and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and escalate when necessary.
  • Strong team player with proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
