Job Description

Position Overview

Wells Fargo is seeking a Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance, Vice President, Technology & Technical Services to join the Renewable Energy and Environmental Financing Team. In this role, you will drive technical diligence on renewable energy projects through risk identification, stakeholder collaboration, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive technical diligence of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, storage) to identify and mitigate investment risks.
  • Manage the technical due diligence process, including equipment reviews, negotiating technical inputs to financing documents, and leading internal/external meetings.
  • Create and negotiate technical and commercial risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the deal team.
  • Contribute to internal credit approval processes by preparing credit memoranda and presenting technical aspects of deals to senior management.
  • Collaborate with diverse industry stakeholders to resolve technical issues and develop strong relationships with project sponsors, engineers, and contractors.
  • Optimize diligence tools, standardize processes, manage vendors, and drive continuous improvement including the use of automation tools.
  • Support the Portfolio Management team by providing technical consulting for operating wind, solar, and storage assets.
  • Analyze portfolio operational data to investigate project performance, identify trends, and offer actionable insights.
  • Ensure all work complies with risk management, compliance, and business process expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Environmental Investment Origination experience, or equivalent through work, training, military experience, or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in renewable energy/battery energy storage projects, engineering and/or financing.
  • Master's degree in engineering or an MBA considered a plus.
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and/or automation tools.
  • Proven ability to work in a focused, collaborative, and fast-paced team environment with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to establish credibility with senior management.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to solve complex or abstract problems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $185,000 - $300,000 USD annual. (This range reflects the base pay offered; actual pay may vary based on achievements, skills, experience, and work location.)
