Job Description
Position Overview
Assistant Project Managers assist project managers in overseeing multiple construction project sites. They coordinate workers, materials, and equipment while ensuring sites remain safe and productive. This is a safety-sensitive position that demands excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of projects.
- Maintain projects in an organized manner to ensure a safe and productive worksite.
- Manage and schedule manpower, equipment, material delivery, and subcontractors.
- Oversee traffic control operations and enforce safety protocols.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to ensure goals are met within the prescribed time frame and budget.
- Manage suppliers and subcontractors to ensure safety, profitability, and scheduling adherence.
- Employ best practices in planning and organizing work to maximize productivity.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and follow supervisor directions.
- Adapt to changing tasks and work conditions while maintaining accuracy.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil or other) or Construction Management, and/or 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in decision-making, managing construction projects, and working with owners and developers.
- Strong computer skills coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Able to manage multiple tasks independently with changing priorities.
- Team player with self-confidence, professional presence, and sound business judgment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting (minimum 25 pounds unassisted), and handling materials.
- Must have effective vision and hearing (naturally or with correction).
- Willingness and ability to travel as requested.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Viewpoint and HCSS (HeavyBid) software skills.
- Experience with construction scheduling programs, preferably in Primavera P6.
- Previous experience with Bridge Construction and managing Civil Construction Projects.
- Proficiency in project estimating, budgeting, and documentation of construction safety training.
- Experience with daily operations cost tracking systems.
