Position Overview
Our premier strategic services firm is seeking a full-time Data Scientist (Mid-Level) to support a DoD customer based in San Diego, CA. Located in San Diego, CA, USA, this role offers a competitive Compensation: 90,000-110,000 per year and requires an ACTIVE SECRET UP TO TOP CLEARANCE. You will work on high-visibility and mission-critical programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of programs and perform all functional duties independently.
- Oversee the efforts of less senior staff and manage all staff assigned to a specific job.
- Develop and implement analytics techniques/applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization tools.
- Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Visualize, interpret, and report data findings, and create dynamic data reports.
- Perform software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts.
- Utilize frequent scripting in languages such as Python and R with common data science packages.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, or a related field; OR Associates Degree with 4 additional years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of three years of focused experience in a related role.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Cloud Essentials/Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA)/Certificate of Cloud Security (CCSK), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, EMC Data Science Associate/Cloudera Certified Data Scientist (CCDH), Certified Apache Hadoop Developer, Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD), Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), and Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE) or Private Cloud certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning and applying technical concepts.
- Experience with data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, Numpy, and Requests.
- Background in data mining, statistics, graph algorithms, and applying complex mathematical and operations research methods.
- Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL), API building, and ETL pipeline development.
