Position Overview
Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm known for its pioneering work and collaborative culture, is seeking an Associate with 4–6 years’ experience to join its Global Cybersecurity & Privacy team. In this role, you will support the Cybersecurity & Digital Risk Practice, advising clients on complex cybersecurity incidents, regulatory defense, and compliance with emerging privacy and cybersecurity laws in a fast‐paced, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising clients during cybersecurity incidents, including forensic coordination, containment, notification, and regulator engagement.
- Representing clients in enforcement actions and investigations by agencies such as the FTC, SEC, DOJ, HHS OCR, and state Attorneys General.
- Counseling clients on compliance with emerging cybersecurity and privacy laws, including state, federal, and cross-border frameworks.
- Supporting board and executive-level cybersecurity preparedness through tabletop exercises, training, and crisis management simulations.
- Drafting and negotiating data protection, incident response, and cybersecurity vendor agreements while collaborating on cross-border investigations.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- 4–6 years of experience at a top AmLaw 50 or equivalent national firm.
- Experience in cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory defense, or high-stakes litigation.
- Strong technical acumen or a demonstrated interest in information security, data governance, or AI-related technologies.
- Exceptional writing, research, and client communication skills.
- Admission to practice in Texas (or eligibility for waiver).
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
- Must include a resume and writing sample with the application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating cyber incident response, working with forensics teams, or engaging with regulators.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) or related frameworks.
- Exposure to AI, data governance, or digital transformation risk management.
