Controls Engineer (Basic–Medium Level)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer with solid experience in building automation systems and strong technical knowledge of Distech Controls technologies. This role focuses on the programming, configuration, commissioning, and optimization of Building Management Systems (BMS) integrating HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy efficiency solutions.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working in collaborative environments, especially in construction, retrofit, and industrial automation projects. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement control systems for building and industrial automation
- Program, configure, and commission Distech Controls systems
- Develop and troubleshoot PLCs and automation software (Python, C++)
- Integrate HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems
- Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Analyze control schematics, electrical diagrams, and system designs
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Support field installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and As-Built drawings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
- Use AutoCAD and MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and documentation
Technical Requirements
- Experience with Distech Controllers (ECL, ECB Series)
- Proficiency in EC-NetAX and EC-Net 4 platforms
- Strong knowledge of BMS systems
- Communication protocols:
- BACnet/IP
- BACnet MSTP
- Modbus TCP/IP
- LON
- BMS troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams
Education & Certifications
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field
- Distech Controls Certification (preferred – Certified EC-Net Programmer)
- Training in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Energy Management (preferred)
Language Requirement
Bilingual (English–Spanish) required due to operational and field coordination needs.
