Position Overview
General Matter is an innovative company on a mission to restore our country’s ability to produce nuclear fuel – powering AI, manufacturing, and critical industries. As an Electrical Engineer, you will design, build, and test high-performance sensor, actuator, power conversion, safety, and control systems. You’ll own projects from initial design through production while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, Skunkworks-style environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop highly reliable electrical systems and components for enrichment technology.
- Conduct systems trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, debugging, documentation, manufacturing planning, and production testing.
- Create development and qualification testing campaigns to rigorously exercise designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are efficient, manufacturable, and reliable while challenging assumptions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects, portfolio work, or completed products.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems architecture, circuit design, PCBA layout, and/or harness design.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and core engineering fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fast-paced engineering environments requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach.
- 3+ years of design experience in power electronics (including relevant academic projects).
- Proven background in developing new hardware, firmware development, electromagnetic simulation, or electromechanical integration.
- Ability to quickly learn new analysis methodologies, simulation tools, and circuit topologies.
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards in technical documentation and proactive communication.
