Position Overview
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) is a leading comprehensive engineering design and consulting firm providing innovative solutions to facility and infrastructure challenges across the US. In the role of Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager II, you will be responsible for leading medium to high scope projects—from confirming project requirements to managing budgets, schedules, and client communications. Your expertise will ensure quality project execution and overall project success for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirm the project scope and requirements with the client and other stakeholders.
- Develop a financial plan for the project by preparing the proposal letter and the preliminary man-hour budget in collaboration with CRM, Department Head, or Operations Director.
- Ensure contracts are fully executed by the appropriate Principal.
- Develop the project staffing plan and preliminary man-hour budget as applicable.
- Lead project kick-off meetings to convey project scope, client expectations, standards, and man-hour budgets.
- Collaborate with the design team to confirm a final man-hour budget based on discipline work plans.
- Provide responsive, professional leadership to the internal design team.
- Work with the client to understand schedule expectations and propose interim milestones with team input.
- Schedule work, communicate schedules and action items to the project team, monitor manpower requirements, and update projections while maintaining a profit variance of +/- 5%.
- Ensure project documentation is completed and appropriately stored.
- Prepare and implement a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects.
- Ensure invoices are accurate, delivered in a timely manner, and follow up on account receivables while updating projected monthly revenue earnings.
- Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects; facilitate communication and anticipate the needs of both clients and the project team.
- Monitor project budget and work with the team to schedule work in accordance with man-hour budgets.
