Position Summary, IT Cybersecurity Specialist

Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc. We are looking for a highly qualified, highly skilled Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist with experience working in the Department of War (DoW). The IT Cybersecurity Specialist will become a member of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) Cyberspace Information Technology/Cybersecurity Workforce (CIT/CSWF). As such, this person is instrumental in: assisting with technology vulnerability identification and remediation; preparing, updating, and maintaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, including Authority to Operate (ATO) packages, within in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) tool; and performing security technical implementation guide (STIG) and information assurance vulnerability management (IAVM) monitoring and implementation.

Highlights of Responsibilities

  • Perform system and software checks to ensure ongoing compliance with software development-related cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Review cybersecurity Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) and ATO requirements for Development Test and Evaluation and Operational Test Environments.
  • Evaluate Proof of Concept (POC) technologies.
  • Liaison with DoW Program Managers to create Program Protection Plan (PPP).
  • Perform STIG and IAVM monitoring and implementation.
  • Provide Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) reporting.
  • Provide updates to the software accreditation eMASS records as guidance changes and is implemented within the program.
  • Monitor primary software, as well as project supporting software, Department of the Navy Applications and Database Management System (DADMS) records for expiration dates; provide documentation to request extension or updates as appropriate.
  • Implement updates to RMF cybersecurity plans and other planning documents.
  • Perform cybersecurity Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) generation and maintenance.
  • Perform ad-hoc patch or system/software vulnerability remediation testing and application in support of cybersecurity-related data calls.
  • Keep abreast of latest DoW system cybersecurity requirements.

Required Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Prior cybersecurity-related military service or 5-10 years of DoW cybersecurity work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with military Technology Development and Integration Process (TDIP).
  • Experience in cybersecurity RMF approval processes.
  • Knowledgeable of DoD cybersecurity risk management policies.
  • Current CompTIA or Microsoft security certificate.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • An active, DoD Security clearance.
  • Previous military or DoD cybersecurity experience.
  • Knowledge of a full range of cybersecurity principles including systems software, database software, and immediate access storage technology.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of concepts and principles to assess and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources.
  • Broad technology expertise with application, system integration, data, and/or infrastructure knowledge.

Travel

No travel is currently anticipated for this position.

Tools and Technology

  • Government-owned and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) web-based tools.
  • Microsoft Office suite of tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Working Conditions/Environment

  • Most work will be conducted at the customer site located at NSWC PCD and the remainder at an IPS office.
  • Some tasks may include reaching, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and walking.
  • IPS is a drug-free employer.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.
