Job Description
Position Overview
This is a receptionist position – an entry level role and a great way to get into a clinical environment. Reporting to the site designate leader, you will perform business and office maintenance activities such as patient appointments, registration, billing functions, cash collection, and phone communication. You will follow established policies and procedures and demonstrate exceptional customer service aligned with Corewell Health’s Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills: answer telephones, direct calls appropriately, and utilize effective communication that respects diverse age, cultural, and developmental needs.
- Access computer systems to retrieve and update appointment and patient information; initialize necessary documentation including patient verification and procedure paperwork.
- Schedule appointments, consult with physicians or physician offices as needed, and manage film purging and transfers.
- Answer phones in a courteous and efficient manner while prioritizing work and managing urgent customer concerns.
- Monitor inventories related to office supplies and order accordingly.
- Demonstrate competence in computer applications and operate standard office equipment such as Microsoft Office systems, calculators, photocopiers, dictation equipment, and fax machines.
- Maintain employee medical record correspondence in the proper format, including filing and interfiling of medical records and test results.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to multi-task and sensitivity to others.
- Ability to prioritize, self-motivate, and manage stressful situations effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with a focus on superior customer service following Corewell standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-year experience in a clinical office setting.
- Basic computer skills.
