Job Description
Position Overview
This position is responsible for the design, development, timing, and production release of a vehicle line Exhaust System and/or underbody heat shield. Additional duties include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency initiatives, as well as communicating technical product status to management. The Design Release Engineer will also interact with suppliers and work closely with internal and external groups such as testing and prototype labs, CAE engineers, vehicle program teams, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, development, timing, and production release of vehicle line exhaust systems and underbody heat shields.
- Implement quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency initiatives.
- Communicate technical product status to management.
- Interact with suppliers and collaborate with testing/ prototype labs, CAE engineers, vehicle program teams, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of relevant experience and 3 years of design/development engineering experience in Body, Chassis, Interior, or Propulsion Systems (internships in these areas may be considered).
- Proficiency in English (writing, listening, and speaking) is required.
- Self-starter with strong leadership, communication, organizational skills and demonstrated problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience in Noise / Vibration / Harshness studies and structural design for fatigue life.
- Extensive automotive experience, including product engineering and prototype development.
- Familiarity with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
- Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Green Belt certification.
- Solid understanding of system/component design with working knowledge of NX, TeamCenter, PLM, and CoDeP.
