Job Description
Position Overview
Based at our HQ near Portland, Oregon, this hybrid role requires in-office presence (3+ days per week, subject to change) and is pivotal within the international marketing team. As the Director of International Marketing, you will support the global execution of the Columbia brand across numerous markets outside the US by leveraging global assets, localizing marketing strategies, and ensuring brand consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the resolution of complex local market challenges using advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Provide leadership, best practices, and support to local marketing managers while developing and guiding team members in enhancing channel program planning and execution.
- Support, guide, and track all marketing execution and strategy in international markets (APAC, EMEA, LATAM) and with International Distributors for the Columbia Brand.
- Distribute global brand frameworks and toolkits—including traditional and digital media, social media, PR, retail environments, key accounts, and omni-channel marketing examples—and review local sponsorships, events, and other tactics as applicable.
- Relay regional market intelligence to the global organization and assist with planning global campaigns.
- Partner with Global and Regional Merchandising along with the Product Marketing team to adapt global stories and initiatives to regional needs.
- Engage cross-functionally in planning marketing programs, budget management, and field communication.
- Collect and analyze industry intelligence, competitive research, and market data to refine regional strategies.
- Develop and consolidate annual regional marketing budgets and seasonal reporting in collaboration with Global Marketing leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Respected and proven leader with excellent listening and collaboration skills in an omni-channel environment.
- Ability to set clear priorities and execute go-to-market strategies with precision.
- Adept at following brand direction while adapting strategies to fit regional market nuances.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to champion regional market needs in global marketing decisions.
- Experience working in cross-cultural environments and contributing an enterprise view to leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent certification) in Marketing or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of global marketing experience with 8+ years in people management (including managing through managers).
- Extensive background in consumer marketing across retail, key accounts, traditional media, digital media, events, and sponsorship activations.
- Ability to travel globally and proficiency in Japanese, Spanish, French, or Mandarin considered a plus.
