Job Description
We are looking for a Client Accountant who will work to provide high level service and support to both our clients and wealth management teams. As a valued member of the Firm’s Family Office Services Team, you will directly support team members by processing the general client cash and accounting activity as well as support the Client Service Team with account related administration. This includes preparing month-end / year-end closing and periodic financial reporting, coordination of bill payment with the A/P Specialist, accounting for client trusts and entities, reconciling investment accounts, and maintaining client books of record other sources of records where applicable. The ideal candidate will enjoy setting aggressive goals, thrive in a fast-moving environment and be accountable for delivering results.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain personal accounts and financial records for clients
- Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, financial reports and other records and review for accuracy
- Request and document required approvals in a timely and professional manner for invoices, bills and other related financial items from client and client representatives
- Ensure timely routing and review of invoices to accounts payable processing
- Monitor client cash balance and ensure adequate liquidity for operating expenses
- Record and verify details of trust, personal, and business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, transfers of assets and updated values/ownerships
- Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations, per client needs
- Consistently meet processing and reporting deadlines
- Reconcile investment statements and record appropriate transactions in the general ledger
- Support Client payroll preparation and reporting
- Support the preparation of client tax reports including preparation of 1099s, W-2s, etc.
- Respond to auditor, board, donor, and regulatory information requests, prepare financial reports, and support special projects
- Establish, organize and maintain accurate client and organizational accounting files in compliance with record-retention policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar degree preferred
- Minimum of five years related experience
- Knowledge and experience in GAAP and Tax/Cash basis accounting principles, investment accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully at all times with clients, colleagues and external partners
- Consistently demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement in all interactions
- Highly detail-oriented with strong self-review and quality-control skills
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel
Salary and Applications
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, and education. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus. The range for this role is $75,000 - 90,000.
