Job Description
Position Overview
Marmon Mok Architecture, a leading Texas architectural practice, seeks talented Registered Interior Designers for our offices in San Antonio or Austin. This full-time, mid-career role (approximately 10–15 years of experience) is dedicated to elevating people and communities through the thoughtful, beautiful, and impactful design of buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with clients and user groups to prepare building programs, including space planning studies, adjacency diagrams, and stacking diagrams.
- Collaborate with the architectural design team to create strong design concepts, including appropriate material and color palettes, and shepherd the vision through project completion.
- Plan workspace layouts and floor plans that focus on flow, efficiency, and wellness.
- Sculpt interior spaces with detailed specifications for finishes, materials, lighting, artwork, and furnishings.
- Prepare interior construction details in Revit and develop FF&E documents while coordinating with vendors.
- Create design presentations using physical material boards, 2D renderings, PowerPoint, and oral presentations.
- Communicate with team members, including specification writers, to incorporate appropriate finishes, systems, and manufacturer requirements into technical documentation.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives.
- Review submittals, finish samples, and implement value engineering to maintain design intent.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of related commercial interior design experience.
- NCIDQ or CID Certification is required.
- Fluency in Revit is required.
- Strong understanding of interior architecture including building materials, finishes, furnishings, systems, trends, and technical aspects.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain clear client communications and expectations.
- Detailed knowledge of FF&E design, specifications, deliverables, and procurement processes.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and capable of passing background checks for on-site work at government and secure facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Revit and familiarity with current design trends.
- Experience with municipal/civic, commercial, and/or healthcare projects.
- Working knowledge of InDesign, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with systems furniture, regional vendors, and local installers.
- Understanding of trends in workplace and healthcare planning, including change management, wellness, and sustainability.
- LEED or WELL AP certification is a plus.
