Position Overview

The Adult Regional Medical Director aids the Chief Clinical Officer with oversight and coordination of quality comprehensive medical care to a variety of center patients, in an efficient and cost-effective manner, for both the health centers and the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary liaison between Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Physicians and the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Assists with developing, coordinating, and enforcing medical policies and procedures and educates clinical staff on the rationale for adherence.
  • Helps implement the Patient Centered Medical Home model by improving clinical workflows and patient satisfaction.
  • Supervises, monitors, audits, and evaluates Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Physicians within the respective departments.
  • Assists with the recruitment of medical staff, including interviewing candidates.
  • Contributes to the development and coordination of diagnosis-related practices and guidelines.
  • Works cooperatively with Health Center Practice Managers and helps evaluate their performance in conjunction with the Director of Operations.
  • Leads regular meetings of the medical staff at their health center.
  • Assists in maintaining clinical coverage when needed.
  • Meets regularly with the Chief Clinical Officer and other medical leaders to enhance clinical care and processes.
  • Assumes all essential responsibilities of an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician, as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to coordinate quality medical care in the outpatient setting.
  • Interest in fostering organizational, physician, and patient cooperation to improve care delivery.
  • Competence in general office procedures and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ability to serve effectively as a liaison between the organization and the health center’s medical staff.
  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Public Health Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Two years of management experience in a healthcare institution or agency.
  • Proof of successful National Board completion or certification.
  • Meets the requirements for Medical Staff membership.
  • Completion of an accredited United States Internal Medicine or Family Practice Residency Program.
  • Valid Arizona medical license and DEA certificate.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED for the Health Care Professional per American Heart Association and Red Cross guidelines.
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for specialty behavioral health locations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical methods and techniques.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients, associates, and the general public.
  • Basic business English proficiency with appropriate spelling and punctuation.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
