Director, Technical Program Manager; AX-Enterprise Tech Delivery

Position Overview

The Director, Technical Program Manager (AX-Enterprise Tech Delivery) leads and executes large-scale technology programs that support enterprise-wide initiatives focused on automation, operational clarity, and scalable platform development. In this role at Capital One, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to plan, develop, deliver, and execute an end-to-end technology roadmap supporting critical tech-wide programs. You will also play a key role in building and expanding the technical program management discipline within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute large-scale technology programs to drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to simplify enterprise operations through operational clarity, standardization, and automation.
• Own the planning, development, delivery, and execution of an end-to-end technology roadmap that supports key tech-wide programs.
• Serve as a TPM leader by mentoring and growing a team of technical program managers while establishing strong TPM practices.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the program delivery life-cycle.
• Drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science teams through effective communication and stakeholder collaboration.
• Focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and achieving impactful results.
• Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, active listening, and empathy in leadership roles.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
• 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing (preferably AWS)
• 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms
• 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery
• 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs – owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and securing commitments on deliverables
