Position Overview

Our team is seeking a full‑time Lead Network Engineer to deploy, operate, and maintain IT systems in a classified lab environment at our McLean, VA campus. This role, best suited for candidates with prior experience in classified environments, offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact while working in a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support numerous classified infrastructures and standalone environments.
  • Implement and maintain NIST 800-53 Security Controls/RMF compliance with any additional security lockdowns to ensure accreditation across environments.
  • Provide guidance for hardware/software purchases as needed.
  • Collaborate with project leads to ensure environments are compliant with end-user requirements.
  • Offer top‑level technical support, vision, and leadership to a small team managing both infrastructure and end user issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI with CI Poly.
  • Experience managing a Windows supporting services environment (WSUS, Network Policy Server, Certificate Service).
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (batch scripts, PowerShell, PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, etc.).
  • Experience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automation.
  • Experience with VMware vCenter/vSphere and VDI implementations using VMware Horizon.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop effective technical documentation including design, test, implementation, and automation plans.
  • Ability to review operational metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Deploy hardware/software configurations in a standardized, automatable, and auditable manner.
  • On-site work requirement: 5 days a week.
  • Clearance: Top Secret/SCI/Polygraph is required (and must be obtained within one year from hire if not already held).

  • 8+ years of experience in Network Engineering.
