Job Description
Position Overview
The Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDRO) Prevention Coordinator (MPC) serves at the VA Northern California Healthcare System under the guidance of the Infection Prevention and Control Program Manager and the Chief of Infection Control, Medical Services. The role focuses on infection control, risk assessment, program management, and the development and implementation of strategies to prevent and control MDRO transmission. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with all levels of healthcare professionals across services and departments.
- Integrate existing standards, guidelines, and public health principles into the MDRO Prevention Program.
- Conduct surveillance and data analysis to identify, reduce, and prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs on MDRO prevention and infection control.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on MDRO and advise on effective prevention strategies.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and compliance with VA policies including drug testing, background investigations, and onboarding requirements.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing registration in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
- Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nursing leadership experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in quality improvement or public health.
