Job Description

Position Overview

As part of the Buildings team at Garver, the Mechanical Engineer will develop mechanical designs for various Buildings projects. This role involves work on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, whole building energy modeling, and sustainability reporting, along with coordinating with support disciplines, assisting project managers, following quality assurance/control plans, and periodic travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs for building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, energy modeling, and sustainability requirements.
  • Coordinate with support disciplines and regional offices to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Assist project managers with overall project management and documentation.
  • Follow quality assurance and quality control plans to maintain high standards.
  • Travel to project sites as required for on-site assessments and coordination.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of building design and construction industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Carrier HAP or a similar HVAC load analysis program.
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec.
