Job Description

Position Overview

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) safeguards Arizona’s water supplies. ADWR is seeking a Data Governance Lead (Business Analyst) for the Director’s Office – Office of Enterprise Data Management. This role supports the administration of data management initiatives, enforces policies and standards, and represents the agency at statewide data management meetings. The position is based in Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – 1110 W. Washington St., Suite #310) and may offer remote work within Arizona based on business needs.

Compensation: $68,000 - $75,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering and enforcing data management policies and standards for the ADWR EDM Program.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of agency-wide data quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with EDM staff, IT, and business units to develop new data sets for the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Manage the ADWR OEDM Share Point Center of Excellence site, including uploading and revising documents.
  • Maintain the Enterprise Business Glossary and assist with the upkeep of the ADWR Data Catalog.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data management processes including data governance, data quality, and data operations.
  • Familiarity with research, data analysis, requirement gathering, feasibility reviews, and impact analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, consultation, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to liaise between IT and business units, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize work activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) Associate or higher, or DCAM Certification v2.2/v3.
  • At least five years of experience in data management, specifically in data governance or data quality.
