SEO Manager - Full-time

Position Overview

As part of Cengage Global Marketing Services, the Web Services team provides SEO expertise to promote the online presence of Marketing websites and drive organic growth. We seek a highly skilled SEO Manager to lead our SEO strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement comprehensive SEO plans to improve organic search rankings and drive traffic for Cengage Marketing websites.
• Work closely with go-to-market partners to align SEO strategies with business goals and objectives.
• Act as the main liaison with SEO consultants/services to review and enhance SEO plans, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Develop an overarching go-to-market SEO strategy plan for Cengage Group Marketing that considers all business unit websites and regions.
• Collaborate with social, paid media, and web production teams to implement technical and content SEO strategies.
• Guide content teams with targeted keyword strategies by creating keyword playbooks and providing training.
• Identify and resolve technical SEO issues by working with internal teams to optimize website performance.
• Track SEO metrics such as traffic, rankings, and conversion rates, and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Provide actionable recommendations and clear reports to stakeholders on campaign status.
• Keep abreast of SEO trends and algorithm updates to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Oversee and mentor the SEO Specialist.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Decision Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as an SEO lead in a fast-paced environment.
• In-depth knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with standard SEO tools (e.g., BrightEdge, Moz, Google Search Console, GA4).
• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Proven ability to analyze large sets of data and derive actionable insights.
• Strong reporting and communication skills with the ability to present complex SEO concepts clearly.
• Experience collaborating with external experts and cross-functional teams in a large organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant SEO certifications (e.g., from Google, BrightEdge, etc.).
• Knowledge of Google Ads.
• Agency experience.

Base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Additional incentive compensation may apply.
