Product Engineer, Automotive Manufacturing

Position Overview

Our client, a global automotive manufacturer and supplier, is hiring a Product Engineer to drive engineering products following design standards that meet customer needs. Based in Farmington Hills, MI, the successful candidate will ensure that technical engineering and system requirements throughout the product lifecycle are achieved while maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct technical and engineering activities for assigned projects and programs from design to development to validation.
• Act as technical liaison between the Central Office, manufacturing plants, suppliers, and customers.
• Facilitate DFMEA development standards and procedures for “Design Responsibility”.
• Lead glazing systems engineering & design activities in alignment with product design standards.
• Conduct internal and external design review activities, collaborating closely with customer-directed design teams.
• Support prototyping activities at glass, value-add, and component part plants.
• Negotiate technical specifications, tolerances, and alternative design proposals with customers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technically related field.
• 5+ years in automotive product design or automotive glazing is a must.
• 3+ years working for a J-OEM is a must.
• Detailed understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up principles.
• Familiarity with CATIA, SAP, or similar CAD software packages.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teamcenter proficiency is preferred.
