Position Overview
Field Engineer I – The Field Engineer I performs on time and accurate Preventative Maintenance in one or more modalities of equipment. The role involves following Field Modification Instructions and Instrument Service Information bulletins while working alongside experienced Field Engineers to learn troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation techniques. The position is responsible for driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to complete on-time and accurate Preventative Maintenance, FMIs and/or ISIs.
- Assist more experienced field engineers with equipment installation.
- Collaborate on basic troubleshooting and service repair needs on designated equipment.
- Effectively communicate and partner with teammates, colleagues, and customers for proper issue resolution and follow-up.
- Partner with customers to recommend value-added services that enhance their business efficiency.
- Maintain accurate customer service logs, internal service records, order repair parts, and manage cycle times.
- Utilize the GEHC escalation process and collaborate with regional and national support to implement corrective actions.
- Engage commercial counterparts to identify potential sales leads and support contract renewals and revenue programs.
- Independently answer service calls without assistance within one year of employment.
- Keep up to date with competitor information and market trends.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience servicing electronic equipment.
- Experience with web applications and the Microsoft suite of products.
- Must comply with GEHC’s standard background check and drug test requirements, as well as customer access policies including proof of required immunizations.
- Special Physical Requirements: Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted; frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch, squat, kneel, crawl, sit, and stand for long periods; capable of reaching at, above, and below shoulder level; and possess good hand and finger dexterity. Vision requirements include color, close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Quality-Specific Goals: Must be aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, and all applicable regulatory requirements, including those related to Health and Human Services and Environment Health and Safety.
