Job Description

Position Overview

At Houston Methodist, theHuman Resources (HR) Representativeposition is responsible for providing day-to-day human resources support and is generally the first point of contact for general inquiries in the department. The role includes handling phone calls, greeting visitors, and offering exceptional customer service. The representative conducts information intake, supports the onboarding process by processing forms and performing data entry with high accuracy and compliance with Houston Methodist policies and regulatory agencies. They assist HR management, the immigration team, generalists, and recruiters as needed while managing both candidate and client experiences. Additional administrative responsibilities include organizing departmental events, managing employee records, processing invoices, and handling corporate purchasing cards. This position requires a self-motivated individual who adapts quickly to changes and manages time effectively while minimizing overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day human resources support and serve as the first point of contact for inquiries.
  • Conduct intake of information and support the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Process forms and perform data entry with high accuracy and compliance.
  • Screen employees and applicants while handling inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Assist with departmental events, including employee meals, gift distributions, and recruitment fairs.
  • Ensure compliance with background checks, drug screens, and I-9 requirements.
  • Maintain a professional workspace and manage office supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in organizing workflow and prioritizing tasks effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED or partial/full completion of post-secondary education).
  • One year of customer service experience or a combination of human resources and/or other professional experience.
  • Hospital experience preferred.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • High level of maturity and self-confidence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professional handling of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products.
