Job Description

Position Overview

Tanaq Technical Services (TTS), a division of St. George Tanaq (SGT) Corporation, is an 8(a) Alaskan Native Small Business specializing in delivering Enterprise Integrated Technology Solutions and Support Services to the Federal Government. In this fully remote role, you will serve as a Data Scientist (AI/ML focus) supporting the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO) by analyzing, modeling, and simulating data for AI/ML proofs of concept and pilots. Candidates must reside in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations using Python.
  • Analyze HUD datasets, implement data preprocessing, and assess data quality for AI workflows.
  • Collaborate with UX, DevOps, and front-end teams to operationalize models effectively.
  • Evaluate model performance, validate results, and iterate for continuous improvement.
  • Document models, decisions, assumptions, and ethical safeguards to support AI governance.
  • Maintain version-controlled code and reproducible workflows to ensure audit compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or AI/ML projects.
  • Proven expertise in developing predictive models, simulations, and decision-support tools.
  • Strong skills in data processing, cleaning, transformation, and engineering with federal-scale datasets (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, or cloud-native pipelines).
  • Experience with Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).
  • Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain necessary government clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting HUD OCIO initiatives.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, AI, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Python, machine learning, or data science.
