Position Overview
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science and Digital Health is seeking a Principal Data Scientist, Real World Evidence (RWE). In this role you will lead innovative evidence generation using diverse real‐world data to drive key clinical insights and impact patient outcomes in areas such as oncology, immunology, or neuroscience. This position offers flexible primary locations including Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; or San Diego, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a portfolio of RWE projects based on real-world data that provide key insights to pipeline assets.
- Leverage emerging scientific and technological developments to generate innovative research ideas and solutions.
- Lead end-to-end RWE studies including conceptualizing research questions, study design, data feasibility, analysis, programming, and interpretation.
- Analyze and interpret data to support urgent requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure quality in the design, execution, and publication of studies, along with the development of statistical models and tools.
- Develop study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and programming deliverables.
- Clearly articulate technical methods and results to diverse audiences to support decision-making.
- Align RWE generation with regulatory requirements and scientific standards.
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, or similar).
- Relevant experience (2+ years for Ph.D. holders and 4+ years for master’s holders) in biopharma, RWE consulting, or related healthcare industries.
- Extensive hands-on experience with data engineering and data analysis.
- Proven track record of delivering high impact data science projects.
- Expert proficiency in R and SQL.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering Data Science projects using predictive technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, or forecasting.
- Familiarity with drug discovery and clinical development processes in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, or specialty ophthalmology.

- Compensation: $115,000 - $197,800 base pay range.
