We are seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer I to join a fast-paced team supporting mission-critical communication and video surveillance systems for public safety environments. This role focuses on the design, deployment, integration, and support of advanced video and wireless networking solutions across the Chicago area.
The ideal candidate will have experience with IP networking, video systems integration, and wireless communication technologies, along with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support video network infrastructure, VMS platforms, and camera systems
- Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot networking and communication equipment
- Support system staging, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities
- Develop engineering documentation, diagrams, installation plans, and test plans
- Work closely with project managers, operations teams, installers, and customers
- Conduct site walks to assess customer requirements and project scope
- Provide technical guidance and support during installation and implementation phases
- Deliver customer training and final system documentation
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree: in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or related field
- 3+ years of experience: in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Video Systems Integration, or Wireless Communications
- Strong understanding: of IP networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Layer 2/Layer 3)
- Experience working: with video surveillance systems and video management solutions
- Excellent communication: and presentation skills
- Ability to work: independently in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license: and ability to travel throughout the Chicago area
- Must be able: to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be authorized: to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions
- Knowledge of routing and switching protocols such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RSVP-TE, and LDP
- Experience with RF system design and microwave propagation
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, JNCIA, or similar
- Experience working directly with customers in technical environments
Work Environment
- Hybrid/onsite role based in Chicago, IL
- Travel to customer and installation sites throughout the Chicago area required

Pay
$40.00 per hour
