Job Description
Position Overview
Orthant exists to acquire, grow, and manage vertical market software companies for life – a portfolio including CEI, Finglow, PRG, ConiferSoft, and Rezatec. We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, manage, and govern our cloud environment with a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and scalability. You will have hands-on management of Azure resources across networking, identity, storage, and platform services, ensuring adherence to Microsoft’s best practices for governance and operations. Familiarity with alternative cloud providers is a plus.
Compensation
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Azure governance practices, including management groups, policies, and compliance standards; apply principles of least privilege and enforce secure RBAC configurations across subscriptions and resources.
- Configure and manage VNets, firewalls, private endpoints, and secure integrations with managed services, ensuring network security best practices.
- Oversee Storage Accounts (configuration, lifecycle management, and security), SQL Databases/Managed SQL Servers (configuration, monitoring, backups, access), Function Apps and App Services (deployment, scaling, VNET integration), and governance of pipelines in Azure DevOps and TeamCity.
- Configure monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics; ensure backup and recovery solutions are in place and tested; work with security tools such as Microsoft Sentinel and Purview.
- Monitor Azure spend, analyze cost drivers, implement optimization strategies across compute, storage, and managed services, and provide efficiency improvement reports.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, and security teams to ensure deployments align with organizational policies, acting as a subject matter expert for infrastructure configuration.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Practical knowledge of networking, firewalls, storage accounts, and identity management in Azure.
- Familiarity with managed services such as SQL, App Services, Function Apps, and monitoring tools.
- Hands-on experience with automation via PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
- Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and cost optimization strategies in cloud environments.
- Relevant Azure certifications are preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with alternative cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
- Exposure to Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, or CDN solutions.
