Job Description

Position Overview

The Data Scientist role at Bread Financial is responsible for generating data-driven insights and developing predictive and prescriptive models to support marketing and enterprise initiatives. This role leverages advanced analytics, AI/ML tools, and secure data-sharing environments to enhance decision-making and drive measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, deployment, and periodic maintenance of AI solutions. (30%)
  • Build strong relationships with internal business partners to deliver enterprise solutions. (20%)
  • Establish and execute a framework for engaging enterprise partners when planning new AI solutions. (15%)
  • Assist with documentation, compliance, model governance, and maintenance of AI solutions. (15%)
  • Research advanced modeling and AI techniques to enhance predictive modeling and maintain industry knowledge. (10%)
  • Train and mentor junior Data Scientists and lead projects as needed. (10%)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • 8+ years of experience building sophisticated models using machine learning, segmentation, time series, and other advanced analytics methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Advanced machine learning modeling and technical expertise in developing market differentiation data science products.
  • Experience in bank card/credit card business, consulting, retail, marketing, loyalty, and/or financial services.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary ranges (e.g., California: $138,600–$272,900; Colorado: $120,500–$229,200; New York: $132,500–$272,900; and more). Base pay may depend on location, education, and experience.
