Job Description

Position Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Team in one of our Michigan offices. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, has 3–7 years of related experience, and is experienced with HVAC and plumbing projects for water/wastewater facilities. The role requires a self-motivated individual with excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule becomes available after 30 days of employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical planning and mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing) design and construction support on various water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery projects, including combined sewer overflow facilities, pump stations, and treatment plants.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, support alternative analysis, and utilize effective technical writing skills to develop technical memoranda, design bases, business case evaluations, and reports.
  • Prepare design reports and construction plans for treatment plants and pump stations in compliance with local and state standards.
  • Assist with specifications, permit submittals, as well as review project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Monitor task budgets and progress while documenting design changes and communications.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and provide technical guidance during start-up as needed.
  • Prepare project status reports and assist in proposal preparation.
  • Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings to ensure clear communication and excellent client relations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with HVAC and plumbing projects for water/wastewater facilities.
  • Proven ability to develop detailed design plans for treatment projects.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
