Group Group Voluntary Benefits Underwriter

Position Overview

Join Voya's team as an independent underwriter where you'll evaluate complex group insurance applications, approve cases up to 10,000 lives, and provide guidance to lower-level underwriters. This role operates under well‐defined guidelines and offers the flexibility to work remotely or from one of our major office locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and work direction to lower-level group underwriters. Provide input to performance reviews.
• Evaluate risk for the most complex group insurance products by analyzing financial condition, employee group characteristics, participation percentage, industry type, and past claim experience. Ensure proper pricing, appropriate funding methods, and effective coordination on proposals, new cases, renewals, and amendments.
• Contribute to total division profitability by analyzing client profitability through experience and expense analysis while paying attention to product line performance.
• Participate in product development and enhancements, representing the underwriting/service team perspective, and contribute to regional marketing rollouts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years underwriting experience in group voluntary benefits
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excel experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
