UI / Visual Product Designer
Job Description
Position Overview
Our client, a financial services company, is seeking a remote UI/Visual Product Designer to join a cross-functional team supporting the prospect and client Financial Planning experience. This role is 40 hrs / week for up to 6 months with the potential to extend. In order to be considered for this role, the candidate must have a portfolio that demonstrates the highest level of craft for financial services products or similarly regulated industries. As a Product Designer, you will lead work from ideation and research to final implementation, collaborating with product managers, developers, designers, and UX Researchers to design, test, and iterate digital experiences.

Schedule: 40 hrs / week
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience Required: 5+ years in a related field, with at least 3 years in user experience and interaction design
Key Responsibilities
- Create new solutions that align with the organization's vision and the needs of users using problem-framing approaches within a product model and agile-like processes.
- Use prototyping and visual design skills to craft compelling mobile and web experiences for prospects and clients.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure the experiences shipped are pixel-perfect across form factors.
- Apply best practices and human-centered design methods, contributing to and leveraging the existing design system.
- Help gain buy-in around design decisions by clearly communicating the rationale to cross-functional team members and senior stakeholders.
- Utilize design facilitation and storytelling skills to foster collaboration and build long-term relationships.
- Bonus: Champion accessibility by leveraging tools, best practices, and advocating for accessible design in cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Interaction Design, UI/UX Design, Web Product Design, Web Development or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a related field, with at least 3 years specifically in user experience, interaction design, or product innovation within financial services.
- Proven track record of contributing to the development of multiple shipped digital products.
- Ability to develop processes and approaches for tackling design problems and anticipating challenges.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design rationale and clarify success metrics.
- Demonstrated application of human-centered design principles with an understanding of business and technical impacts on digital design.
- Self-directed and proactive attitude with a passion for driving progress and making meaningful contributions.
- Ability to turn research into actionable design solutions.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration focused on delivering business value.
- Experience leveraging a design system and evolving it to meet product and user goals.
- Relevant agile experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working in diversified financial services.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards for content.
- Familiarity with current UX research, theories, and methodologies, especially user-centered design processes, and an understanding of how human factors impact ROI and the product development lifecycle.
- Experience using prototypes to quickly communicate proposed interactions.
