Position Overview
Technology sales at IBM is evolving its way of working to break beyond boundaries with innovative approaches. As a summer 2026 Brand Technical Specialist intern, you will use your technical interests and people skills to prospect and co-create tailored solutions with customers, partners, and colleagues. In this role, you will become a subject matter expert on solutions that are secure, reliable, scalable, sustainable, and integrate with hybrid cloud and AI—playing a key part in IBM’s digital transformation initiatives. Opportunities are available in Atlanta GA, Austin, TX, Boston MA, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, New York NY, Raleigh NC, San Francisco CA, Costa Mesa, CA, and Washington DC. Readiness to travel based on business need is expected (up to 10%). Please note: IBM will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Credibility and Trust: Use consultative methods to facilitate the closure of highly complex deals.
- Developing Proposals: Create propositions for clients by solving strategic and tactical business problems with IBM’s technology solutions.
- Delivering Proof of Concepts: Simplify complex technical subjects and educate clients by delivering proof of concepts.
- Defining and Detailing IBM Solutions: Design feasible solutions that complement and enhance clients' existing tech stacks.
- Sales Prospecting: Apply IBM’s sales methodology to identify new clients and expand opportunities through various channels, including cold calling.
- Supporting Sales Opportunities: Collaborate with Business Development and technical teams to identify and create up-/cross-sell opportunities.

- Motivation to achieve sales and business objectives while ensuring high client satisfaction.
- Aptitude to utilize selling technologies to network, engage clients, and identify new business opportunities.
- Embrace curiosity and maintain a growth mindset.
- Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a strong team-player attitude.
- Self-starter with the ability to lead projects independently and support client engagements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming coursework or experience is a plus.
- Prior work experience in client sales or service.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree.
