Urban Planner​/Designer

Position Overview

Walker Macy, a nationally recognized design and planning firm, is seeking an Urban Planner / Designer for their downtown Portland, OR office. The role centers on socially conscious, sustainable urban design and integrates landscape architecture, urban design, and planning in support of public-facing projects throughout the Western United States. This in‐person position involves collaborating with project managers on team coordination, scheduling, and deadline management to deliver innovative design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project managers with team coordination, scheduling, and deadline management.
• Apply strong design skills and clear graphic communication in creating urban design solutions.
• Utilize design software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GIS, CAD, and Sketch Up or Rhino.
• Collaborate within a team-oriented environment committed to equity, sustainability, innovation, and client service.

Required Qualifications

• Professional degree in urban design, planning (postgraduate level) or landscape architecture (BLA or MLA).
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience in urban design-related practice.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GIS, CAD, and Sketch Up or Rhino.
• Strong design, graphic communication, and (ideally) hand drawing skills.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, with a self-motivated, rigorous, and organized work ethic.
