Job Description

Position Overview

UTHealth Houston’s UT Physicians Gyn-oncology, MFM and Uro-gynecology (Katy) clinic is seeking a Front Desk Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurse practitioners, and midwives in providing comprehensive care for women’s reproductive health, pregnancy, and general gynecologic needs. Location: UT Physicians Ob/Gyn Katy, 23920 Katy Freeway, Katy, TX 77494.
Schedule: Full-Time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in planning and preparing patient visits ensuring necessary schedules, test results, and clinic-specific requirements are available.
  • Room patients efficiently while documenting chief complaints, vital signs, and relevant history.
  • Perform appropriate tests (e.g., hearing and vision, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing) and other procedures as required.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms and clinic supplies and ensure proper cleaning between patients.
  • Assist with routine and specialty procedures.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments or referrals and handle routine clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
  • Manage telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months experience in a medical assisting role or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge in the use and care of standard clinic equipment.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
