Designer

Position Overview

Compensation: Minimum base pay from $17.40 per hour with higher starting pay available based on experience. Floor & Decor Designers provide a seamless start-to-finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty. In this role, you will meet with customers, listen to their project needs, educate them on all requirements, and build creative design concepts that incorporate the customer’s personal style, lifestyle, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support store design walk-in needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking, referrals, and in-store leads.
• Provide advice on tile, wood, stone, and accessories to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, and consistent communication.
• Collaborate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Enthusiastically support all company initiatives by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market.
• Utilize design applications such as Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience.
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Design is a plus.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus.
