Position Overview

Location: Remote • Department: Insurance Agency • Position: Full Time-Exempt.
Engage PEO, recognized on theINC. 5000 Honor Rollfor the fastest growing private companies, is seeking a Benefits Underwriter to join its Engage Insurance Agency Team. In this key role, you will manage health insurance risk and premium assessments for prospects and clients by reviewing submission data, developing competitive pricing, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the underwriting process. You will collaborate closely with consultants and the sales team, while ensuring all submissions are properly recorded in the CRM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the internal team or third-party vendor by reviewing submission information and ensuring all required documentation is received, while setting up appropriate underwriting tools.
  • Conduct parity on all new underwriting business submissions when third-party support is not available.
  • Review all data and tools for completeness and accuracy while assessing risk and assigning associated premiums.
  • Evaluate proposed prospects and Engage benefit pricing, communicate final pricing to consultants and the sales team.
  • Prepare available plan portfolio options for each medical proposal generated.
  • Prepare Multiplan comparisons and contribution analysis when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to produce monthly reports on quotes, quote volume, tracking, and overall book performance.
  • Provide quote analysis and actuarial review to offer insights for process improvements and plan performance targets.
  • Ensure that all systems are accurately updated with underwriting metrics and data.

  • Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, and/or health benefits underwriting.
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Resident State Health Insurance license (215) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ClientSpace and PrismHR is a plus.
  • Basic underwriting skills for comparing benefit plans and rates with appropriate risk banding.
  • Working knowledge of the Health Insurance industry across Health, Life, Disability, Dental, and Vision plans.
  • Familiarity with ACA and compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret numeric data and apply pricing guidelines.
