Job Summary: Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, overseeing complex accounting activities, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across our multi-entity organization. This position requires a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to support operational and strategic initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May provide mentorship or guidance to junior accountants or accounting assistants.
  • May review reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation prepared by junior staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and reclassifications.
  • Maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP across multiple business entities.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare internal financial statements and supporting schedules for leadership review.
  • Support external financial audits by preparing audit schedules, pulling source documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Assist with year-end reporting requirements and the preparation of footnotes or management disclosures.

Account Reconciliations

  • Perform and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, AP/AR, inventory, intercompany, prepaid assets, and deferred revenue.
  • Ensure reconciling items are addressed promptly and accurately.

Intercompany Accounting

  • Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, eliminations, and settlements.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal transfer-pricing policies (as applicable).

Accounting Operations Support

  • Assist with AP/AR oversight, revenue recognition procedures, and vendor management workflows.
  • Ensure proper classification of expenses across operating units and legal entities.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements.

Process Improvement

  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance accuracy, and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Assist with system enhancements or implementations involving ERP/accounting software.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with finance, operations, HR, pharmacy, and lab departments to validate financial data and support business decisions.
  • Provide accounting guidance for new initiatives, contracts, or operational changes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including multi-entity environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Technical Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication to convey financial information clearly.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial information with integrity and discretion.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Certifications: CPA or working toward CPA strongly preferred.
  • Public Accounting Experience: Experience in audit or assurance is a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Healthcare, pharmacy, or telehealth industry experience is beneficial.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with modern ERPs, financial automation tools, or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Multi-entity/Multi-state Experience: Familiarity with intercompany allocations and consolidations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds intermittently.
