Job Description

Position Overview

The Stony Brook University Advancement Specialist, Content Marketing position supports the Marketing and Communications team’s mission by developing and managing content that enhances our brand, engages our audience, and supports our mission. This role plays a critical part in increasing awareness, driving engagement, and generating support through compelling storytelling and content distribution across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and optimize communications across web, email, social media, video scripts, reports and more to clearly convey complex information and motivate action.
  • Plan, execute and monitor projects—including comprehensive content strategy development, writing impactful material, implementing SEO best practices, and coordinating multimedia production.
  • Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders through regular communication, collaboration, and scheduled events.
  • Provide administrative support to streamline scheduling, correspondence, and document management.
  • Pursue opportunities for personal and team growth by sharing insights and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing content strategies.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and techniques to drive email and social media engagement.

  • Full-time position (M-F, 8:30AM-5:00PM) on-site for the initial 90 days.
