Position Overview
Baked by Melissa is seeking a results-driven, highly analytical, and proactive professional for the role of Sr Manager, Procurement & Supply Chain Analysis. Reporting to the Controller and positioned within the Finance/Operations department, this role is a critical link between our supply chain, finance, sourcing, procurement, and bakery operations. The position requires working onsite at our Bakery in North Bergen, NJ and our Corporate Office in New York, NY – a minimum of 3 times a week – to partner closely with operational teams, manage the full sourcing and procurement process, and drive cost efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sourcing and procurement activities, including vendor management, pricing terms, strategic sourcing, PO oversight, and inventory control.
- Develop and oversee an efficient invoice approval process.
- Conduct detailed cost modeling and ROI analyses (e.g., bakery equipment upgrades, cost savings initiatives) to provide financial insights for decision making.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to own standard costing and inventory management.
- Work with the Bakery Operations team to identify cost-savings opportunities.
- Spend a minimum of 2 days a week in the bakery and 1 day a week in the corporate office to gain deep understanding of processes, inputs, and cost drivers.
- Assist the Controller and CFO in developing tools and frameworks to track and report on KPIs such as ingredient yields, waste, labor, vendor costs, and forecast vs. actual variance.
- Support analysis and forecasting related to COGS, production labor, vendor pricing agreements, and material utilization.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in sourcing, procurement, and vendor management within the food manufacturing/production industry.
- Strong financial acumen with proficiency in financial modeling, ROI analysis, and capital planning.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate them clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven experience in building and managing scalable reporting processes and dashboards to track KPIs and identify trends.
- 8-10 years of experience in supply chain operations and procurement, ideally in Food & Beverage or CPG.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, with a strong preference for experience in Sage X3.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; experience with analytics or project management software is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, planning, and budgeting processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with food manufacturing certifications (e.g., GMP, SQF), safety regulations, compliance standards, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
