Position Overview
Tesla is seeking a seasoned Cost Construction Engineer with relevant construction experience to support the buildout of Tesla’s global facilities and infrastructure. This position will be directly responsible for managing construction cost and supporting the implementation and tracking of change management processes for engineering and construction throughout various project stages. Mechanical, electrical, and process experience are desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cost management programs, including budget control, cost tracking, and forecasting during project execution
- Capture and manage change orders, ensuring accurate cost forecasting throughout the project
- Assist in developing project control processes such as change management, cost forecasting, risk management, and earned value analysis in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Create reports and dashboards to communicate cost performance to various teams and management levels
- Perform trend analysis to evaluate cost performance, identify risks, validate forecasts, and communicate findings to stakeholders
- Develop cost reports and tools to inform decision-making, track project performance, and conduct ad-hoc cost studies to assess project viability
- Assist in preparing project funding requests, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements during project close-out
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of construction methods across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
- Expertise in cost estimating processes for large-scale, multi-billion-dollar facilities
- High proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Experience with Aconex, P6, Bluebeam, CAD, and other construction-related software
- Familiarity with construction schedules and estimating resources like R.S. Means and Equipment Watch
- Ability to work within a high-performance, detail-oriented, and cross-functional team environment under tight deadlines
