Position Overview

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting‑edge cloud‑based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission‑critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an IT Engineer to be based in our Location: Arlington, VA office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model‑based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI‑driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Innovative Defense Technologies is seeking a self‑motivated IT Engineer to manage and maintain critical Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment supporting mission‑critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and related infrastructure services in a secure, production environment
  • Design, implement, and support infrastructure changes, including server builds, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure availability, reliability, and security
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and security hardening in accordance with organizational policies and best practices
  • Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure and systems‑related issues, providing root‑cause analysis and resolution
  • Collaborate with network, security, and engineering teams to ensure secure, reliable, and well‑integrated infrastructure solutions
  • Support hybrid infrastructure environments, including on‑premises and cloud‑based systems
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of automation, monitoring, and operational processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and changes to support operational continuity
  • Participate in planning and execution of infrastructure initiatives supporting mission‑critical systems

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related engineering field or equivalent full‑time professional experience
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant technology role
  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Hands‑on experience supporting virtualized infrastructure, including VMware vSphere and vCenter
  • Experience managing enterprise identity and access controls within Windows domain environments
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure security fundamentals, including patching, least privilege, and system hardening
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system‑level issues across servers, virtualization, and supporting services
  • Experience documenting system configurations, operational procedures, and technical changes
  • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and hybrid infrastructure concepts
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with cross‑functional technical teams
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience administering and securing Windows Server environments at scale, including Group Policy, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, vCenter, and lifecycle management (patching, upgrades, migrations)
  • Experience supporting multi‑site or segmented network environments, including VLANs, firewall rules, and secure access between environments
  • Familiarity with security tooling and monitoring platforms such as EDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, or log aggregation solutions
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance‑driven environments, such as NIST 800‑171, CMMC, ITAR, or other DoD‑aligned frameworks
