About the position
The Technical Writer II position at Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation involves creating and maintaining technical documentation for product safety, including operator manuals, labels, and service literature. The role is integral to ensuring that users understand how to safely and effectively use Milwaukee products, while also collaborating with various departments to gather and organize technical data.
Responsibilities
- Write and layout concise, highly structured instructions of medium to high complexity, directed toward a specific audience.
- Maintain electronic files for domestic and international product literature, including manuals, on-product labels, service parts lists, service wiring diagrams, repair manuals, service instructions, and calibration manuals.
- Research and organize technical data, working closely with Engineering, Service, Regulatory, Safety, Liability, and Marketing Departments.
- Document changes to existing literature or the release of new literature.
- Maintain Technical Publications databases used by internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or technical equivalent in Journalism, Science Writing, English, Technical Communication, or Graphic Arts.
- 3-5 years of experience in technical writing or a related field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of proper power tool use and safety.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
- Ability to evaluate priorities and adjust to changing deadlines.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in CAD programs.
- Understanding of programs such as Corel Draw, ProEngineer, TeamCenter, NX (UG), and ERP systems.
