Job Description
Position Overview
The Travel CNC Machinist and Programmer is responsible for full cycle machining work in a job shop environment supporting complex government and military projects. The role involves reading blueprints and work orders, selecting tooling, programming CNC lathes and mills, setting up machining cycles, and inspecting parts to ensure precision standards are met. Compensation: $35-40/hr plus a $140 PER DIEM paid ALL 7 DAYS. Applicants should be prepared for variable shifts in a clean, high-quality shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Select appropriate tooling and program CNC lathes and mills using Mazatrol and Fanuc.
- Set up CNC machines and run full machining cycles.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with tight tolerance and quality standards.
- Engage in troubleshooting and problem-solving to address machining challenges.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of full cycle CNC machining experience in a job shop environment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and setup, especially with Mazak machines.
- Experience operating CNC lathe and mill equipment.
- Strong understanding of Mazatrol programming and C-axis programming with live-tooling.
- Hands-on experience with GD&T and blueprint reading.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam.
- Proficiency in gaging and metrology practices.
- Strong self-learning aptitude and effective problem-solving skills.
