Job Description
Position Overview
Join Gray Matter Robotics as a Robotics Engineer: Systems & Applications, New Grad. In this role you will enable customer success by leading the implementation, deployment, and support activities of smart robotic assistants for surface treatment applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Before the work cell is deployed, work with the customer to learn about the manufacturing process by observing the current process, taking measurements, reviewing CAD and machine documentation.
- Collaborate with mechanical and robotics engineers to design the work cell layout, ensuring the robot's reachability and optimal cycle time.
- Modify the robot end-of-arm tool and part fixtures as needed by coordinating with mechanical engineers and overseeing parts fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Design, implement, and deploy robotic cells, systems, and components.
- Setup and test the work cell on the customer site, including installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining control components such as proximity sensors, relays, and vacuum ejectors.
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams to install and support robotic solutions.
- Lead rigorous system testing practices and proof of concepts.
- Develop documentation, manuals, and educational content.
- Create new applications using Gray Matter technologies and solutions.
- Design and lead customer success and support programs while working with the product and engineering teams to improve the overall customer experience.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Academic or internship experience with manufacturing automation.
- Ability to solve technical problems effectively, efficiently, and independently.
- Demonstrated experience with 3D solid modeling, analysis, and the development of 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Basic programming knowledge in C++, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with industrial facilities and equipment.
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must secure work authorization in the United States and maintain ongoing authorization from the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience within a manufacturing environment, such as manufacturing process development or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience programming 6 DOF robots for various surface finishing applications.
- Experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
